Founded in 1952, Smiths Rugby was initially an employees-only club called “Smiths Industries RFC” but became open to all in the 1970s. Since then, Smiths have been proud to welcome all-comers and aim to provide an inclusive, family friendly place to enjoy local rugby.
Smiths have gone from strength to strength in the last 10 years with a change of home venue from Newlands Park to The Prince of Wales Stadium and success on the pitch through promotions and cup wins. Whilst taking the rugby a bit more seriously, Smiths have still worked hard to maintain the social side and camaraderie that form an integral part of the club.
