Solarize Brooklyn is a group of your neighbors working to bring cost-effective solar power to our neighborhoods on a large scale.  Congratulations! 23  households are going solar through Solarize Brooklyn!
In total, 23 of our neighbors will be installing solar energy systems on their roofs through Solarize Brooklyn: Kensington Windsor Terrace & Flatbush. 18 will be solar electric systems, with a total capacity of 80.45 kilowatts, and 5 will be solar hot water systems with a total of 14 collectors. This exceeds the total  number of residential solar systems installed in Kensington, Windsor Terrace, Flatbush, and Park Slope during all of 2012.

This spring and summer we signed up buildings in Kensington, Windsor Terrace, Flatbush, and nearby neighborhoods (Park Slope, Ditmas Park, Sunset Park, and others!). We selected two expert solar installers who are offering group pricing and discounts, and held six community education sessions in the neighborhoods. Our goal is to double the number of solar installations in this area.

Check out How It Works and review the Solarize Pricing and Discounts. Get to know us by watching our video and listen to a neighbor who loves her solar energy system.

Solarize Brooklyn was organized by two local groups, Sustainable Flatbush and Sustainable Kensington Windsor Terrace. It is completely led by volunteers that want to help their neighbors go solar. Our advisor on the project is Solar One, a nonprofit green energy, arts, and education center. The solar installers are EmPower Solar for solar photovoltaic (electric) and Quixotic Systems for solar thermal (hot water). They were selected through an open, competitive process that considered experience and qualifications, pricing, and commitment to local job training and employment. You can contact us directly at [email protected].
