ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONCERNS FOR THE LOWER HUDSON VALLEY, NEW YORK CITY, AND LONG ISLAND FOR SUNDAY There is an elevated risk of fire spread on Sunday with northwest
winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts to 20 mph and minimum relative
humidity values of 20 to 30 percent.
New York state has declared a burn ban through November 30. The
burn ban prohibits the starting of outdoor fires for purposes of
brush and debris disposal, as well as uncontained campfires, and
open fires used for cooking. Use extra caution if handling any
potential ignition sources, such as machinery or matches, and
ensure to properly extinguish or dispose cigarette butts.
